***MIAMI DOLPHINS -7***

WAKE.png

Well well well, tonight we have a classic divisional rivalry to watch as the possible playoff bound Miami Dolphins head into rainy MetLife stadium to take on the lowly New York Jets. Now normally, if you have been following the SwampMan at all this year, you know I am one to back the home dawgie on Monday Night Football, especially in a division rivalry game! On top of that, the home team has a chance to spoil their enemies playoff hopes. Now I ask you if your season is over already, what would be better than that right now?! It would be the perfect medicine to the dibacle of a game that the Jets displayed on last Monday Night when their game in Buffalo was moved to Detroit and delayed a day due to a severe snow storm. The Jets were facing another rival with their home field advantage taken away from them and also had the advantage that the Bills were unable to practice all week due to the weather conditions, and they STILL got embarassed.....like really, really badly embarassed. It was actually hard to watch. That being said, with all the things I just mentioned working in the Jets favor and more, I am still unwilling to back this horrible team who just have SO many things wrong about them, too many to even mention. I will keep it as simple as possible and state the obvious. They have no QB. NONE. Michael Vick was the worst QB I have seen this year, and Geno Smith is not far from that mark at all. They are truly terrible. Geno is playing for his livelihood tonight, and man do I kind of feel for him. Part of their awful play is due to the fact that they have zero time in the pocket to drop back and pass. The other half is because they just suck, bad combination. The Dolphins defensive line is no joke whatsoever. Cameron Wake and friends will be teeing off tonight on Geno Smith and it will get ugly early. I wouldn't be suprised if we see third string QB Matt Simms tonight at some point and frankly, the Jets would be smart to play him. I would start him, he is the best QB on their team by a landslide. Another factor is that the Dolphins have arguably the best CB in the game this year in Brent Grimes. This kid is a pure shutdown corner. He will take away half of the field for Geno, and he won't be able to throw on them besides that....good luck kid. NY forces the ball to Harvin when he is not open, Decker is hurt and can't run routes effectively, and they really don't have much else to offer.

The run game is solid behind beast Chris Ivory but I am pretty sure the Phins run defense will be keying on that tonight and will hold him and the shell of what was once "CJ2k" Chris Johnson, in check. The fact of the matter is the Dolphins cannot afford to lose this "gimme" game with a very tough schedule on the horizon if they plan to make a valiant attempt at making the playoffs which I personally think that they can. They were literally seconds away from beating both the Packers and Lions and gave the Broncos a pretty damn good scare last week. I know Denver ran on them a bunch but I believe that was because they were more worried about somebody named Peyton Manning doing some work on them and eased up a bit on the run defense. Tonight, Geno Smith won't threaten them in that way one bit and this defense will be looking to stuff the run and be hip to the Jets game. They both know each other very well and the Jets will surely give it their all and this will act as their Super Bowl of sorts. Rex Ryan will surely pull out all of their tricks and I'm afraid that it will just put the nail in the coffin for his career with the Jets. After tonight, it is going to get ugly in NY between both the Giants and the Jets, if that is even possible at this point. It takes a lot for me to back a road favorite laying this many points, especially on the Prime Time stage. I will honestly be in shock if the Jets take it to the Phins tonight, they are undermanned on defense and the Phin WRs are too quick. In a nutshell, PHISH in a SHUTOUT BABY!
